Desmond Ross was born in Garston in 1931, and left school at the age of 14. After serving as an apprenticeship as a poster- and sign-writer, he set up his own business in this field. Some of his paintings feature posters that he remembered creating in the 1950s! It was in 1956 that he married and moved to Wavertree, and it was a desire to record the social history of our area that was his main inspiration.
Sadly Desmond passed away, after a short illness, on 24th December 2021.
