"I was amazed to read about, and finally see, the transformation of Wavertree Gardens during a recent visit. I was raised in 'The Tennies' from 1944 till I left Liverpool in 1978 when the car plants closed in Speke (Standard Triumph).

"I lived in No.1a then later 19a, spent some fantastic years there. When I look on the web and see the flats being modernised, I actually see where I lived, 19a. I remember the air raid shelters on the square.

"Would love to get in touch with some of the old gang."
