NEWS FROM THE WAVERTREE SOCIETY (June 2000)

CAFOD'S CARNIVAL
CAFOD, the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, is celebrating its Jubilee this summer with a series of big events around the country. One of these will be held in Liverpool - and the venue is Wavertree Playground. There will be a programme of music, drama, dance and fun for all the family - and the Wavertree Society will have a stall in one of the Tennis Halls. If you can help us man our sales table, even for only half an hour while you are visiting the event, please contact our Committee member
Sheilagh Birch (tel. 722 6265).

OUR TRIP TO ERDDIG
Details of this trip - by low floor, easy access bus - were given in our last Newsletter. If you have not already booked but would like to come, please send £5 per person to our Committee member Brenda Hoatson (tel.722 3090) as soon as possible. Her address is 56 Meadway, Liverpool L15 7LZ. Admission to the house, outbuildings and gardens will cost another £5 (special party rate) payable on the day, though National Trust members will be admitted free of charge. The bus will depart from the Picton Clock (Lake Road) at 10.30 am, and from the Garden Suburb Institute (Thingwall Road) at 10.35.
We shall be back in Wavertree by about 6.30 pm.

All are welcome to attend the above events
