NEWS FROM THE WAVERTREE SOCIETY (Feb.2003):

Information Wanted
We have been asked to help compile a history of the East Wavertree & Childwall Community Association, which was founded in 1926/27 as a Residents Association and opened a Centre in Dunbabin Road in 1936. Many changes have taken place over the years, but it still survives as an active Community Association with two major sections - tennis and bowls - and the provision of facilities for many other activities. If you have any documents or other information which you feel may be of interest, please contact us.

Does the name
'Laurel Bank Lodge'
(a nineteenth-century Wavertree address) mean anything to you?
Or the 'A.B.Davis District' (1930s)?
Or 'P.C.N. Star of Wavertree Lodge' (1890s)?
If so, please tell our Local History Secretary, Mike Chitty
.

(The only connection between these queries is that all of them were e-mailed to us during the past few months - and we have not yet been able to answer them!)

Many similar requests for information are recorded on our new
'Wavertree Memories Message Board'
- one of the latest additions
to the Society's website.
