NEWS FROM THE WAVERTREE SOCIETY (June 2006):

A COACH
TRIP TO
BRADFORD

on Saturday
8th July

Following the success of last summer's trip to Leeds, we have organised a day excursion to its neighbour and rival, Bradford. Our hosts will be the newly-formed Bradford Civic Society, who have kindly agreed to show us their city's sights both from the coach and on foot.

Bradford - once known as the 'wool capital of the world' - has a legacy of fine Victorian architecture and a cosmopolitan population. It has one of the country's most-visited museums - the National Museum of Photography, Film & TV - and was one of Liverpool's rivals for nomination as European Capital of Culture 2008.

As previously, we shall be inviting members of the Gateacre Society to join us, and as a result there will be two pick-up points: Gateacre Brow (Black Bull) at 8.45 a.m. and Lake Road (near the Picton Clock) at 9 a.m. Tickets are available at £10 a head (non-refundable) from our Vice-Chairman Robert Zatz. Please send a cheque - payable to 'The Wavertree Society'
- to him at 65 Sandown Road, Liverpool L15 4JA.
