The Mersey Basin Campaign was started 25 years ago in an attempt to repair the damage done to the region's rivers by industrialisation, and to encourage waterside regeneration.
It was a pioneering example of partnership working - involving the public, private, community and voluntary sectors - and comes to an end in March 2010.
This presentation aims to answer five questions about the Campaign: Why was it needed? What did it try to achieve?
How did it do this? What impact has it had?
Is there life beyond the Campaign?
Peter Batey (pictured left) is the Lever Professor of Town and Regional Planning, University of Liverpool, and the Chairman of the Mersey Basin Campaign.
The Olive Mount Community Centre is situated on the ground floor of Monkswell Place, Edgewell Drive, Liverpool L15 8GG. Car access is from Thingwall Road via the mini-roundabout; and there is direct pedestrian access from Childwall Road. (Enter the building through the wooden gate by the yucca tree).
