Our next meeting:
ANECDOTES OF
A LIVERPOOL REGISTRAR

A talk by Carole Codd
on Wednesday 25th February at 7.30 pm
in the Olive Mount Community Centre

Carole Codd is a retired Superintendent Registrar, and worked for the Liverpool Registration Service for 32 years, starting back in 1975 as a deputy registrar at Brougham Terrace. She was only the second woman to be appointed to the post of superintendent at Liverpool since registration started in 1837 and has been involved in some of the major changes which have taken place in civil registration in recent time. She still works on a casual basis at the Register Office, which has been based in the Cotton Exchange for the past eight years.

Carole's talk - described as 'amusing and informative' by those who have heard it before - consists of a short history on how civil registration was set up in England and Wales, followed by information and anecdotes on marriages and some of the other services which the Registrars provide in Liverpool.
