Diana Goodier is a member of the Wirhalh Skip Felag - otherwise known as the Wirral Vikings - which is one of Merseyside's two Viking historical re-enactment groups. She will talk about the life of the Vikings, and the historical traces which they have left in the Merseyside area, and also tell us something about what a re-enactment group does. Diana will be in Viking dress, in the guise of a widow called Hild of Alretune whom she describes as 'quite wealthy, a healer/cunning woman'. To illustrate the talk, Diana will also be bringing along a small display of replica Viking artefacts: mostly items of dress, and everyday possessions like combs, needlecases, jewellery and tableware.
