NEWS FROM THE WAVERTREE SOCIETY (Sep.2011):

OUR CALENDAR FOR 2012
Our new Calendar features more BYGONE BUSINESSES OF WAVERTREE: a selection of black-and-white photographs of shops dating from the early 20th century, together with advertisements for local traders reproduced from the Olde Wartre Grand Bazaar programme of 1910 and The Thingwallian magazine of 1913. Measuring 42cm x 15cm, spiral-bound and ready to hang, the calendar also includes a colour picture (reproduced from an Edwardian postcard) of 16-20 High Street. The price of the calendar is once again £2.50 (or 10 for £20) and we are hoping to have copies for sale at the Lock-up on Heritage Open Day. Please contact our Sales Officer, Sheilagh Birch, for further information.

GARDEN SUBURB NOTELETS
We are delighted to report that our initial print run of blank greetings cards - featuring colourful scenes based on the paintings of the late Alan Bickley - has now almost sold out. Rather than opt for a reprint, we have produced a second set of 4 cards, featuring the Institute, a cricket match on the Manweb field, and Wavertree Nook Road (north and south). The price - including envelopes - is £2 for the set of 4, and they are on sale at our meetings or direct from Sheilagh Birch. The original 'Set 1' is available, at the same price, while stocks last.

OTHER ITEMS FOR SALE
On Sunday 11th September we shall have an information table outside the Lock-up, offering a range of tea-towels, books, prints and other items, including:

WAVERTREE VILLAGE tea towel £2.
The original, featuring the main landmarks.

WAVERTREE GARDEN SUBURB tea towel £2.
Specially produced in 2010 for the Centenary.

WAVERTREE PUBS tea towel £2
and

DISCOVERING HISTORIC WAVERTREE £4.95.
