NEWS FROM THE WAVERTREE SOCIETY (July 2012):

Our Summer Outing

Tuesday 21st August

Clitheroe Civic Society will be welcoming us, and showing us round their historic Lancashire market town, starting at the Castle which has stood guard over the Ribble valley for over 800 years. There will be walking involved - but shorter options will be offered to those who are less mobile, and there will be plenty of free time to look around. We'll be visiting on a Tuesday - market day - when the town is at its liveliest.

Our coach departs from Lake Road (near the Picton Clock) at 9 a.m. prompt, and  we shall be back home by about 7 p.m. The cost is £11 per person. As usual, Robert Zatz will be issuing tickets on a first come, first served basis. For details of how to get them - if you are a Wavertree Society member - please refer to your Newsletter.

HERITAGE OPEN DAY in Wavertree
Sunday 9th September
This year, the national Heritage Open Days programme is being supplemented by Liverpool Open Heritage Month. Buildings in and around the city will be open free of charge at various times throughout the month of September. Look out for the colour brochure which we understand is to be published in early August.

Meanwhile please make a note that, on Sunday 9th September, we shall be opening Wavertree Lock-up from 12 noon until 4pm. Other local venues, including Holy Trinity Church and (for the first time) St Mary's Church, will be open on the same afternoon.
