OUR CALENDAR FOR 2013
The Wavertree Society's new Calendar features another selection of images of Bygone Wavertree (mostly black-and-white, but some of them in colour).
Sponsored this year by BMD Law, the calendar is priced at £2.50 and adopts our usual two-column format which we have found to be very popular. Card envelopes, for posting the calendar, are available at 50p extra if required.

AVAILABILITY UPDATE (November 2012):
The Calendar is now SOLD OUT. However, we have launched
a new Christmas Card, featuring a winter scene of
Wavertree High Street, based on an oil painting by Colin Pyle.

OLIVE MOUNT SPORTS GROUND
We sent the Statement of our views, as published in the last Newsletter, to all our local City Councillors (for both Wavertree and Childwall wards). As a result, we had a very useful meeting with Cllr Helen Casstles who represents Wavertree ward. Although the land is privately owned, Cllr Casstles is hoping to use Council funds to get the grass cut, pending the submission of the anticipated planning application for a sports-related redevelopment scheme.
The owner will need the approval of a number of different Council departments before anything can be done in the longer term, and Cllr Casstles has undertaken to set up a meeting between these various departments to ensure that everyone is aware of the issues involved. She has also emphasised that full community consultation will be needed before any major decisions are taken on the future of the site.
