NEWS FROM THE WAVERTREE SOCIETY (Jan.2013):

A SPONSORED HERITAGE WALK
FROM ASSESS EDUCATION
on Saturday 9th March

Assess Education is a company providing specialist educational support services - see their website at www.assesseducation.co.uk - and they have recently moved into the former 'Wavertree Technical Institute' building at 260 Picton Road. They are hoping to participate in our Heritage Open Day next September, and meanwhile are planning a series of events leading up to it.

The first is a Sponsored Walk - on the theme Heritage and Historical Highlights of Wavertree High Street - on 9th March, starting from 260 Picton Road at 11.30 a.m. and concluding with a family buffet at 1.00 p.m. at the Coffee House, Church Road. There will be a prize for the best historical costume. The charge will be £10 for adults (including buffet) - FREE for children under 12 although individual sponsorship is invited. (Names and numbers in advance would be appreciated).

For further details and sponsorship forms please contact
Robert or Phil at Assess Education:
phone 0151 735 0036 or email

The second event is a Hitchmough Family Gathering in April. This will be an opportunity for anyone with this old local name - or with Hitchmough ancestors - to come together, meet extended family and swap family history and stories.
