CHRISTMAS IS COMING ...
so we take the opportunity of wishing all members and friends of the Wavertree Society best wishes for the festive season and the New Year. We have been negotiating for lights to be installed on the Lock-up, and also hopefully the Picton Clock, but at the time of writing the method of fixing them to the two Listed Buildings has not yet been agreed by the City Council's conservation officers. We hope a decision will come in time, but otherwise we shall try again next year!

LIBRARY REPRIEVED
We were pleased to hear that Wavertree Library, along with other branch libraries in the city, is no longer threatened with total closure. The library has been a feature of Wavertree village since 1903, and we hope that members will continue to make use of it for many years to come.

RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE
A member living in the Wavertree Garden Suburb Conservation Area has asked us whether we can recommend any tradespeople who can carry out specialist joinery and other home maintenance work, e.g. refurbishing parquet flooring or repairing timber windows. We are reluctant to publish a list, but we'd be happy to put the enquirer in touch with other local members who may have had similar work carried out successfully. If you are such a person, please let us know.

The Wavertree Society's new Calendar features another selection of images of Bygone Wavertree (mostly black-and-white, but some of them in colour).
The calendar is priced at £2.50, and adopts our usual two-column format which we have found to be very popular. It measures 42cm x 15cm and is spiral bound ready for hanging. Card envelopes, for posting the calendar, are available at 50p extra if required.
