NEWS FROM THE WAVERTREE SOCIETY (Mar.2017):

ALL CHANGE ON THE HIGH STREET?
Planning applications have recently been submitted in respect of Chillies at 57-61 High Street, and the Thatched House at 68 High Street. Both buildings are currently licensed premises (the Thatched House having been listed as a pub in an 1825 street directory, though it has been rebuilt twice since that time) but are proposed for conversion to residential use.

At Chillies the plan (ref.16F/3070) is to convert the pub into 6 flats, and erect 4 town houses at the rear following demolition of the function room. At the Thatched House the plan (ref. 17F/0303) is to convert the pub to form an 8-bedroom HMO (house in multiple occupation).

Liverpool City Council has not yet decided whether or not to grant planning permission for these changes.
