WAVERTREE HIGH STREET:
A #LoveWavertree Update

83 people attended the Community Conversation at Wavertree Cricket Club on 29th July. A steering committee - including representatives of the Wavertree Society, the Wavertree Village Residents & Businesses Association, and local Councillors - has now been set up, and has met to plan the way forward. Items discussed have included Alley Cleaning/Litter Picking, a Car Free Day, a Christmas Festival, a Conservation Area Appraisal and the future of the Town Hall.

If you want to volunteer to help with any of the above, send an email to lovewavertree@gmail.com
and you will be added to the mailing list to receive future updates.

A second #LoveWavertree Public Conversation meeting has now been arranged. This will be held on MONDAY 19th AUGUST, starting at 6 p.m., and the venue will once again be 'The Cricketers' - Wavertree Cricket Club's functions room - in Long Lane L15 (near the junction with Sandown Lane). You can register to attend on this Eventbrite
web page.

Pre-registration is not compulsory, but will give the organisers an idea of numbers and help them to plan the event better. They recognise that a meeting in August is not ideal, but are keen to build on the enthusiasm already generated. They intend holding another public meeting in early September when more ideas have been developed.

The August 19th meeting will be split in two parts. The first part will be an update on the #LoveWavertree campaign so far, and a discussion as to whether the projects so far identified are the right ones. The second part will be a discussion of the proposed Car Free Day on the High Street - an idea approved by the City Council on 15th August - which is planned for Sunday September 22nd (11am-3pm).

In order to assess the views of the Wavertree community on the Car Free Day proposal (and an associated community picnic/music event to celebrate 40 years of the Rose Garden), another online survey has been set up. If you live near, work near or travel along Wavertree High Street, we hope you will fill in the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BMRJB28
