Dear Mr Cassidy,
In today's Daily Post you have placed a full-page advertisement for an Auction Sale taking place on Wednesday 21st March. Under the heading 'Development Opportunities' you list eight Lots (Nos 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 14 and 15) consisting of pieces of land within Wavertree Garden Suburb.
In addition, some of our members living in the area have recently received letters from Nigel Bone (NRB) inviting them to buy the freehold of land which, effectively, they already own. The underlying threat is that, if they do not agree to buy, then the land in question will be offered for sale by public auction.
Most of those who have sought legal advice have, I understand, been recommended to ignore the letter and not to attend the auction, as the land has no real value on the open market. But many of the residents currently being targeted are elderly, and vulnerable to the veiled threat of losing part of their property if they fail to 'pay up'.
I attach for your information a copy of the text of emails exchanged in 2005 between myself, NRB and James Kersh - who was at that time acting in a similar capacity to yourself, but later withdrew - in the hope that you will read them and reconsider your decision to assist Merchant Estate Ltd in this unscrupulous venture.
Yours sincerely,
Mike Chitty
