Simon Ryan is the Honorary Historian of the Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service, and the author of a forthcoming book detailing the history of fire-fighting in Liverpool. He will talk about some well-known local fires (including the Hendersons' department store blaze of 1960, pictured here) as well as explaining the origins of Liverpool's Fire Brigades and showing us pictures of some old fire stations (like the building at the back of 'Cuffs' in Wavertree High Street).
The meeting will take place in the former Farriers' Restaurant, which is at the REAR of Wavertree Town Hall. (Car parking and easy access available from Chesnut Grove).
All welcome - Admission free - Donations invited
