NEWS FROM THE WAVERTREE SOCIETY (Sept.2006):

THE WORK
OF THE
CIVIC TRUST
Wednesday
11th October,
7.30 pm

Ever since we were founded in 1977, the Wavertree Society's notepaper and Newsletters have borne the inscription 'Registered with the Civic Trust' - but only once (in the very early days) have we had a meeting to explain what that means. The Civic Trust is a national charity, established in 1957 to promote high standards of urban design and which in the 1960s instigated the idea of Conservation Areas. Traditionally it has been London based, but recently has begun transferring more and more functions to its new Liverpool office. The Trust's Managing Director, Peter Bembridge, has kindly agreed to come and talk to us about the work of the Trust both nationally and locally - what they do for us and what we can do to support them.

The meeting will take place in the
OLIVE MOUNT COMMUNITY CENTRE
off Childwall Road, Liverpool L15
