NEWS FROM THE WAVERTREE SOCIETY (May 2010):

OUR NEW
TEA-TOWEL

As already mentioned, Wavertree Garden Suburb celebrates its 100th birthday this year. The foundation stone of the first house, now numbered 13 Wavertree Nook Road, was laid on 20th July 1910, and we are commemorating the centenary with a series of talks and other events.

Before Christmas we published a 2010 Calendar containing 12 archive photographs of the estate, and this sold out very quickly. Now we have produced a souvenir tea-towel, of the same style and quality as our existing Wavertree Village and Pubs towels, featuring a series of Garden Suburb street scenes (in black-and-white) based on the late Alan Bickley's superb watercolours.

We very much hope that the new tea-towel (priced at £2) will be ready in time for our meeting at the Garden Suburb Institute on 23rd May. For further details, please contact
our Sales Officer Mrs Sheilagh Birch.
