A CALENDAR FOR 2011

Our new calendar features BYGONE BUSINESSES OF WAVERTREE: a selection of black-and-white photographs of shops dating from the period 1900-1920, together with advertisements for local traders reproduced from the 'Olde Wartre Grand Bazaar' programme of November 1910. Most of the businesses featured were in the High Street, but Picton Road, Wellington Road, Lawrence Road and Smithdown Road addresses are also included.

Measuring 42cm x 15cm, spiral-bound and ready to hang, the calendar also includes a colour picture (reproduced from an Edwardian postcard) of the 'Smallest House in England', 95 High Street, sandwiched between the Cock & Bottle pub and Mrs Fanny Parr's tobacconists shop. The price of the calendar will once again be £2.50 (or 10 for £20) and we are hoping to have copies for sale on Heritage Open Day and at Ken Pye's talk. Please contact our Sales Officer, Sheilagh Birch
, for further information.
