Arnold Lewis is a retired telecommunications manager who is now Chairman of the local branch of the Jewish Historical Society of England. His illustrated talk will cover the key personalities involved in developing Lewis's department store - which traced its origins to a small shop at 44 Ranelagh Street, Liverpool, established by David Lewis in 1856. Lewis's grew into one of the largest and most innovative store groups of its time, and Arnold will describe their advertising and business methods along with the socially beneficial philosophies that drove them.
