CIVIC VOICE is the name of the national charity set up in 2010 to support and represent the 'civic movement' in England: the network of local civic societies (including the Wavertree Society) which aim to make the places where people live more attractive, enjoyable and distinctive, and to promote civic pride.
Civic Voice has hundreds of member societies, but it only has two paid members of staff: Tony Burton (Director) and Ian Harvey (Co-ordinator). Ian is based in Liverpool - and has lived in Wavertree for the past four years. A graduate of Liverpool John Moores Business School, he previously worked for the Civic Trust where he managed the civic society and membership programme. He has agreed to talk to us, and answer questions, about the aims of Civic Voice and its achievements to date.
Come and find out what benefits we obtain from our membership, and how we might participate more fully in future.
