ROUNDABOUT REVAMP
Local residents have been concerned for a long while now (see Newsletter 186) about the state of the Picton Clock roundabout. Last autumn a group of local Scouts - the 25th Picton - offered to remove the weeds and generally tidy up what had become an eyesore at the heart of our Conservation Area. But they were told that the Council had the job in hand. Now, at last, the weeds have been cleared by the Council's contractors; though some of the rubbish inside the former tram shelter remains, and the lamp-posts around the clock are still in need of a re-paint. We hope that maintenance of the roundabout will now continue on a regular basis, and that the Scouts' energy and enthusiasm can perhaps be made use of elsewhere in the village.
