TESCO EXPRESS ON THE WAY
Building work has now started on the former Esso petrol station site, on the corner of High Street and Prince Alfred Road. It has taken a long time to de-contaminate the site (planning permission was originally granted in January 2007 and renewed in December 2009) but work on the new Tesco Express store is now finally underway.

OLIVE MOUNT SPORTS GROUND

In February we wrote to the owner of the ex-Manweb Sports Ground asking about progress. He has explained that plans are still being drawn up for a full upgrade of the recreational facilities, the aim being to create 'a first rate facility for local kids' with the emphasis on teaching (and enjoying) football. A colour brochure has been produced to illustrate the scheme, and the intention is to submit a planning application before too long. We were alarmed to see a 'Care Home' indicated on the corner of Millstead Road and Thingwall Road; though on another page of the brochure a 'Pond' is shown in this location. The owner has agreed to meet with our Committee to present his ideas and to hear our concerns.
