NEWS FROM THE WAVERTREE SOCIETY (Jan.2013):

NEW YEAR GREETINGS
The Committee of the Wavertree Society wishes a Happy New Year to all members and friends of the Society. We are sorry that there has not been a Newsletter published since September, but the redecoration of the Community Centre meant that the talk we had planned for November never happened. We do hope to revert to our usual pattern of
bi-monthly events from now on.

CALENDARS 2013
Owing to a late flurry of orders we went ahead with a reprint of our Bygone Wavertree calendar, and we still have a few copies left for sale at £2.50. Enquiries to our Sales Officer, Sheilagh Birch.

SAN REMO (WAVERTON HOUSE) NURSERY PLANS
We were pleased to give our support to planning application 12F/2213 which is for the conversion of 41 Church Road into a day nursery for 76 children. The City Council's decision is currently awaited. As mentioned in Newsletter 190,
we are keen to see any old photographs of the building, or any information about the Morrison family who originally lived there.

CONSERVATION AREA PLATES AND PLAQUES
We are pleased to report that the City Council has at long last replaced the missing Wavertree Village Conservation Area plate in Childwall Road, and the damaged one in Picton Road. We are still awaiting refurbished plates for the Garden Suburb Conservation Area in Thingwall Road. Meanwhile we have obtained Listed Building Consent for our proposed heritage plaque on the Wavertree Garden Suburb Institute; and plaques for the Blue Coat School, Holy Trinity Church and The Lamb are 'in the pipeline'.

To view the Planning Application drawings for 41 Church Road, visit the Liverpool Planning Explorer website and enter the relevant reference (12F/2213) into the Application Number box. Then click the 'Search' button. When details of the application appear, click the number, then click 'Related Documents' (at the bottom of the page).
To view any of the PDF files listed, right-click on the Document Name and
download/save the file in the usual way.
