BREWING IN WAVERTREE
On Wednesday 15th July, the Liverpool group of CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) is holding an informal meeting at the Coffee House in Church Road North, Wavertree. Our Local History Secretary Mike Chitty has been invited to give a short talk about Wavertree Breweries (of which there were once several) and he hopes that this will encourage others to do more research on the subject. Members of the Wavertree Society are invited to come along - at 7.45 pm for 8 o'clock.

LAST CALL FOR HEBDEN BRIDGE
We still have a few tickets available for our coach trip on
Saturday 25th July. These will be on sale, price £15,
at our meeting on the 22nd.
The Hebden Bridge Local History Society has put together a very interesting itinerary for us, including a guided walk and visits to restored listed buildings including churches and the Town Hall. One of the churches - Birchcliffe Baptist Chapel - is now a heritage centre, where we hope to have tea. It is of particular interest because the architect was George Lister Sutcliffe (born in Heptonstall, just up the road) who later moved to London and, as chief architect of Co-partnership Tenants Ltd, was the designer of the houses in Wavertree Garden Suburb.

HERITAGE OPEN DAY
Sunday 13th September
Dovedale Baptist Church, St Barnabas, Holy Trinity and St Mary's have all confirmed that they will be open for visitors this year. Holy Trinity is planning a special First World War heritage event, with music and words remembering the way in which the church responded 100 years ago. We shall, as usual, be opening the Lock-up from 12 noon until 4 pm. For more information about all of the Wavertree venues and events, please see our next Newsletter.
