5. On 13 Feb 1894, a local newspaper reported the consequences of a severe gale that caused damage in many parts of the city: "The grand stand at the Old Boys' football ground, Woodcroft Park, Wavertree, has been blown down". The Old Boys rugby club was (according to the Liverpool Mercury, 11 Dec, which reported a match between the Old Boys and Manchester Free Wanderers) still playing at Woodcroft Park in December 1897; but by the 1898/99 season they had apparently moved to Edge Lane.
6. There are other post-1894 newspaper announcements of matches. On 25 Mar 1897, the Liverpool Mercury reported on a Rugby Football match: Liverpool College v Merchant Taylors'. "These clubs met in the final of the Liverpool School Shield, at Woodcroft Park, yesterday afternoon ...". And on 10 Nov 1900, the Liverpool Mercury listed 'Albion v Liverpool Central' playing (association football) at 'Woodcroft Park, Wavertree. Kick off 2.45pm' in the West Derby and District League.
