ABBEY CINEMA BUILDING
Those who attended our February 2020 meeting will know that we were in discussion with the Co-op group's HQ regarding the proposed installation of one of our heritage plaques on their building (the former Abbey Cinema). In March they told us, out of the blue, that the supermarket was to close; and it ceased trading in mid-April. The building has been sold to Lidl, but as yet - despite several attempts - we have been unable to find out what their intentions are.

The building is not Listed, but it is situated within the Wavertree Village Conservation Area, so any works of demolition (or any other significant changes to the appearance of the building) would need planning permission - and would need to be the subject of public consultation.
