When 'Discovering Historic Wavertree' was published in 1999, we said that we'd use part of the proceeds to pay for a series of 'green plaques' on historic buildings and landmarks within Wavertree Village and the Garden Suburb. So far we have installed 11 of these, and another 6 are in the pipeline. Our Local History Secretary, Mike Chitty, will describe where they are, and explain why those sites have been chosen.
Please note that the venue for this talk is the Wavertree Garden Suburb Institute (a.k.a. Thingwall Community Centre) at 149 Thingwall Road. That building - two former cottages converted for community use in 1912 - is itself the subject of one of our plaques, which we put there in 2015. On-street parking is available on the north side of Thingwall Road, between Wavertree Nook Road and Fieldway.
If you have any suggestions for further sites to be added to the list, please let us know - either at this meeting or by contacting any Committee member.
ALL WELCOME - Admission free - Refreshments available - Donations invited
