On the 9th July, The Wavertree Society finally met with Liverpool Council to formerly ask for the Picton Clock to be repaired. The Society had first become aware the clock had stopped in Decemeber 2024. What followed next was nearly two years of letter writing, emails and decreasing hope.
Thankfully, after a constructive meeting with Alan Smith (Head of Heritage Preservation and Development) we are pleased to see the clock working again! Our discussions with Alan also spoke about a larger piece of work to fix many of the damaged, failing and broken parts of the clock and give it a comprehensive restoration.
We look forward to working closely with Alan and securing a better future for our beloved clock.
