New Heritage Plaque for Philanthropist

We have recently installed a green ‘heritage plaque’ on the railway bridge on Picton Road, to commemorate philanthropist Charles Melley who donated the nearby drinking fountain to the people of Wavertree. Melly was a pioneer of providing clean water to the people of Liverpool as part of his crusade to improve public health and get people away from the evils of drink!
